Reference, Instruction, and Outreach (RIO)

Guide to provide a forum to learn and share ideas about the various aspects of library reference, instruction, and outreach.

General Information

The Reference, Instruction, and Outreach (RIO) Interest Group provides a forum to discuss RIO issues while sharing ideas about potential speakers and workshops. Topics may include reference services, library promotion strategies, use of social media, information literacy, media literacy, virtual instruction, community engagement, library programming, and collaboration among campus groups. Facilitated by Johanna Mackay of Skidmore College and Deanna DiCarlo of Albany Public Library, the group typically meets bimonthly, on the second Thursday of the month from 11 am - 12 pm, please check the upcoming meetings section below to find out when the next meeting is.
