Reference, Instruction, and Outreach (RIO)

The meeting focused on Open Access (OA) and Open Educational Resources (OER's). There was discussion on what both are, but most of the meeting focused on OER's. Ms.Waldin showed us the Hudson Valley Community College OER website and discussed its creation and benefits to students and faculty. The impact of the mandate from the Chancellor of SUNY for these resources and the financial support was mentioned. Ms. MacKay discussed Skidmore College's new OER group as well as their digital repository. Ms. Dixon and Mr. Daly discussed the OA and OER efforts from SUNY and the University at Albany.

The group also discussed Open Access week in October and what the libraries were planning for it.
