Meeting Notes

The presidential election can be an exciting but challenging time for libraries. During this group discussion, the group talked about what resources and/or services are available to patrons in preparation for the election including supporting  patrons with a variety of political beliefs and promoting media and news literacy.

Among the topics discussed:

Handouts and Displays.

Voter registration (also early registration), student voter registration, and information on voting. Where to vote and when. https://www.vote411.org/

Election films and videos.

Information on the Electoral College and lower-level elections.

Student interest/understanding/ability to vote.

Information on both sides and correcting misinformation.

Neutrality and freedom of speech issues.
