Put Your Money Where Your Data Is: Responsive, Data-Driven Allocations Utilizing Excel

How do you combine circ stats, cost information, and other pieces of data to help allocate acquisitions funds? With Excel! Join us for a half-day, hands-on workshop on some of the pertinent features of Excel and how you can use it to create an allocation formula that is easy to understand and to communicate to stakeholders. “Why did we put so much money into Topic X? Let me show you.” Bring your own stats to work with or use sample data provided at the session; we’ll start working on them right then and there.

April Davies is presenting this workshop. She is the Head of Technical & Public Services at SUNY Cobleskill's Van Wagenen Library. She has presented on aspects of this topic at the Charleston Conference as well as the annual SUNYLA conference.

The workshop will be held in Room LI-B48, in the lower level of the University Library at the University at Albany's Uptown Campus, 1400 Washington Avenue.

Workshop attendees can park in Visitor lots for $5.40 for the day. The campus is also served by several CDTA bus lines: Routes 12, 114 and 190 stop at Collins Circle; Route 11 stops at the Campus Center. Route 10 stops on Western Ave below the University.
