Join us on December 11, 2024 for a full day workshop focused on how the librarians at Union College teach research skills at all levels of the college experience. Our work with incoming students has highlighted a gap in the skills that students bring with them from high school when compared to our disciplinary colleagues’ expectations.
We’re hoping that seeing what we teach students at the college level will open up a conversation about how we, as a community of K12 and college-level librarians, can begin to bridge this skills gap.
Schedule:
9am: Welcome and light breakfast
9:30am: Lindsay hosts an escape room
10:30am: Jenna hosts a session on researching at the 200-300 level
11:30am: Joe Lueck, outreach and special collections librarian, discusses our special collection and primary source/400-level research
12pm: Lunch is served
1pm: Group Discussion
2 pm: Library/College Tour
