Getting Reacquainted with Census Bureau Data: Learn how to find Decennial and ACS data on data.census.gov + the ACS Narrative Profile.

This presentation/workshop will explain the difference between the Decennial Census and the American Community Survey (ACS), and then launch into the data.census.gov portal.  Within the portal we will learn how to retrieve the 2020 Decennial data and the demographic ACS data.

Examples of searches include looking for social, economic, population, and housing data at the municipal, tract, and county level as well as looking at the 2020 numbers at various geography levels.  The presenter will also show the ACS Narrative Profile tool and how to access it on an smartphone.   Attendees are encouraged to have a smartphone handy during this program in order to participate in a data search exercise.

If you have a particular type of data or topic you are interested in exploring in this workshop, you are invited to enter it on the registration form. The presenter may not be able to cover all the topics submitted, but he will try to cover as many as possible.

The presenter is David J. Kraiker, Data Dissemination & GIS Specialist at the U.S. Census Bureau.
