Audiovisual (AV) materials can be defined as materials that present information in audio and visual form (e.g., slides, tapes, video cassettes, films, disks, online, etc.).
Some AV titles are individual works that are published once and are not part of a series. Other AV titles are subscription based and received periodically. These and other differences will affect ordering and processing procedures.
It is suggested that each hospital library review the procedures for handling and processing books and journals and whether or not a separate section for AV acquisition is needed. AV materials are also cataloged by CDLC as part of the HLSP.
