The Symposium, sponsered by CDLC's Committee on Resource Sharing (CORS), includes a full day of programming on a variety of topics pertaining to Resource Sharing. The day will start with a presentation on a topic everyone can use some brushing up on, productivity. The day will end with time spent with a lawyer addressing resource sharing and copyright questions pre-submitted by attendees. Both OCLC and ALA will be there to talk about upcoming changes that may affect the resource sharing community.
And best of all, you'll hear about CDLC program and services updates and get an opportunity to meet and mingle with your colleagues!
The cost for the program and lunch is $20 for CDLC personal members, $25 for CDLC members (staff at CDLC member libraries), and $40 for non-members.

Program: Level Up Your Productivity
Description: Our personal productivity is in a constant state of exhaustion because of the endless tasks, email messages, and meetings we manage on a day-to-day basis. This presentation aims to reset our overwhelmed productivity systems by discussing specific methods that focus on setting priorities, creating action plans, and establishing a habitual review process.
Presenter Bio: Ron Kirsop is the Assistant Director of the Pioneer Library System, a cooperative system in Western New York serving 42 small and rural libraries. Ron primarily focuses on trustee education, strategic planning, survey development, project management, user experience, customer service, and team building.
Program: Update from ALA
Description: An Information Policy Scoop from D.C. touching on net neutrality, public domain & copyright issues. What is ALA advocating for in regards to legislation taking place in the 115th Congress?
Presenter Bio: Carrie Russell is a librarian and copyright policy analysis person at the ALA, Washington D.C. office. She previously worked at the University of Arizona. Carrie wrote two books on copyright. One is occasionally used as a textbook for librarian certificate programs and it also won an award for best book in library literature:
Complete Copyright: An Everyday Guide for K-12 Librarians and Educators. She talks about going on vacation but never does.
Program: OCLC Resource Sharing Products and Services Update
Description: Alena Miller will share the latest news and developments about OCLC products and services, with time for questions and discussion.
Presenter Bio: Alena Miller joined OCLC in 2015 as a Product Manager on the Resource Sharing team, after holding a variety of writing, marketing, and technical roles in scientific information. She produces release notes and roadmaps, assists with marketing and web content, and has lots of conversations with libraries about OCLC’s Tipasa interlibrary loan management system.
Program: Lightning Rounds
Description: A number of CDLC members will be giving quick presentations on different types of Resource Sharing services that their institutions participate in.
Program: Ask the Lawyer
Description: A lawyer will be addressing issues on copyright and Interlibrary loan of media. This session will be tailored to questions and/or concerns raised by Symposium attendees. When registering please take a moment to think of any potential questions you may have for the attorney.
Presenter Bio: Stephanie (nickname: Cole) Adams is an attorney advising libraries, creative professionals, civic organizations, and higher education institutions as they build our culture. She first developed a deep connection to libraries working as a page, then clerk, at her hometown library in New Hartford, NY. For over 10 years, Ms. Adams was the in-house counsel at Niagara University, where she routinely addressed copyright, trademark, licensing, not-for-profit, education law, and other library-related legal topics. She is now the owner of her own practice, the Law Office of Stephanie Adams, PLLC, in Buffalo. Ms. Adams is admitted to practice in both the state and federal courts of New York, and staffs the "Ask the Lawyer" service for libraries, offered through WNYLRC, SENYLRC, RRLC, and NNYLN.
