Preservation Interest Group

Guide to provide a forum to learn and share ideas about the various aspects of preservation.

Meeting Overview

The first meeting of the CDLC Preservation Interest Group was held on September 26, 2017. Facilitators Ann C. Kearney and Karen E. Kiorpes, both from the University at Albany, asked those present about their preservation needs and challenges and to consider topics for future discussion. Thirteen institutions from across the Capital Region were represented, including libraries, archives, and museum. All institutions were relatively small in terms of physical space, staffing and budgets; all were looking for advice and assistance, and for ways “to get more bang for their buck”. Specific issues mentioned include problems with high humidity, lack of environmental control, aging AV holdings, and locating vendors and services.  Ann and Karen will create a schedule for the upcoming year, meeting monthly if possible from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. Guest speakers/topics will be planned and announced prior to the meetings.
