Health Librarians' Interest Group

Meeting Notes

Topics Discussed:

  1. How to develop medical/health librarian skills and knowledge.
CDLC classes and groups, NNLM free training, local networking, UNYOC (classes and training), MLA email lists such as Medlib.
  2. How to share citations with clientele.
Emails, Endnote, PubMed XML spreadsheets (see pubmed2xl.com)
  3. Have your methods/practices returned to how they were pre-Covid?
Several said they are still using a hybrid work schedule. Many reported less foot traffic, and the library is being used more often as a meeting space. Some use a self check out system for books that have worked for them. Most allow employee access 24/7 (with ID), and some have locked offices for their off hours.
  4. Onboarding of students - both medical and nursing.
  5. Paperwork - it was reported that DocuSign.com makes it easier.
  6. Hospitals not seeing librarian value - ongoing problem with adminitrators.
  7. CDLC's new ILL E-Form.
