The Capital District Library Council is governed by a 15-member Board of Trustees which includes representatives from CDLC member institutions and the research community served by the council.
The powers and responsibilities of the Board are set forth in New York State Education Law.
The CDLC Board of Trustees generally meets the third Friday of each month from September through June. Additional meetings are held as needed.
The CDLC Board of Trustees, which is established under Education Law (Educ.L.§255) of the State of New York, is comprised of fifteen members representing CDLC's member institutions and the community at large. The members of the Board of Trustees are the legal institutional embodiment of the Council. In accordance with Council bylaws, the Board is responsible for Council operations, personnel, and assets, and with the advice of its various committees determines Council policies.
The Board is responsible for overseeing the functions of the Capital District Library Council by such actions as developing a plan of service, approving budget and financial reports, establishing membership requirements, and providing required reports to the Department of Library Development of the New York State Education Department. The Board has the power to take all necessary and proper steps to carry out the purposes of the Council and to promote its best interests.
