Escaping the constraints of parental expectations (he was the son of a prominent Waterford manufacturing family), he disappears in 1853, his whereabouts and fate a mystery. The exhibit reveals what happened to this smart, engaging, and witty young man and why his story remains intriguing today. Thanks to archival materials recently donated by Dr. Paul Gratton, Newton's story came alive, and museum staff have been able to separate some of the fact and fiction. In this lecture Paul Schneider, exhibit curator, will provide more details and tell some of the stories that did not make it into the exhibit.
