Mission Statement and Goals

The Capital District Library Council facilitates information management, staff development, and resource sharing for the libraries of the ten-county Capital District region of upstate New York optimizing success through collaboration. 

Goals

  • Promote leading-edge reference and research resources to the region.
  • Strengthen cooperation among academic, hospital, corporate, and other specialized libraries; museums and archives; and public and school library systems.
  • Facilitate communication among CDLC members and their staffs.
  • Support exploration and innovation in library services

CDLC is one of nine regional Reference and Research Resources Councils serving libraries and library systems across New York State. The Councils, which include member libraries of all types and public and school library systems, provide a wide range of direct support services to Council member libraries.
